All three occupants of an Ashwoood Drive home were alerted to a fire by smoke detectors early Wednesday morning.

The Rochester Fire Department says all three got out of the one-and-a-half story home safely. Firefighters had the blaze under control in about half an hour. The house was heavily damaged and deemed uninhabitable. The Red Cross responded to assist the three residents, and fire investigators are looking into what caused the fire.

Investigators say the residents probably wouldn’t have gotten out without the smoke detector, since the fire moved so quickly.
