Congresswoman Louise Slaughter of Rochester is demanding that the Securities and Exchange Commission investigate what she says are hundreds of stock trades made by Congressman Tom Price, President-Elect Trump’s nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services.
Slaughter wrote the anti-insider trading STOCK Act, which forced members of Congress and federal officials to disclose their investments. She says those disclosures show Price has made transactions involving stocks of more than 40 different health care companies. She says that’s questionable for someone who is expected to regulate those companies.
Slaughter says as chair of the House Budget Committee, Congressman Price was privy to information not available to the public.
