Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts says we’ll have to wait for the trial to learn much more about the murders of 18-year-old Selena Hidalgo-Calderon and her year-old son, Owen.
Alberto Reyes has been charged by a grand jury with two counts of second degree murder in their deaths on a Sodus farm in May. The sheriff says questions about motive and how the young mother and son were killed will be answered in the courtroom…including what happened after they were last seen alive on May 16th.
Sheriff Virts confirmed that Selena Hidalgo-Calderon sought help from a Domestic Violence organization, but he says what she asked for is confidential.
Reyes has been in jail on an evidence tampering charge after admitting that he moved Selena’s body into the woods, but he has denied killing her. He’s being held without bail and is due back in court on January 15th.
