A Genesee County man was killed Saturday when his parachute malfunctioned in a skydiving accident.
New York State Police say 68-year-old Richard Cordero of Bergen flew out of the Perry/Warsaw airport with three other skydivers. All jumped from the plane together. The other three landed safely, but Cordero’s parachute became tangled after opening normally.
Cordero, who had 45 years of skydiving experience, was pronounced dead at the scene despite lifesaving measures.
