The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says its investigators have located two credit card skimmers on gas pumps at a station in Lakeville. They were looking for skimmers after receiving more than 20 complaints from victims who say their credit cards were compromised, and used at Walmarts across the state.

That sent investigators who suspected a skimmer searching for a place all of those people had in common. Now they’re trying to figure out who placed the identity theft devices.

They’re advising people who get gas at Westin’s mini mart in Lakeville to check their credit card statements for fraudulent purchases. The sheriff says paying cash is the best defense against skimmers.
