Gates police announced over the weekend that they arrested six people, three of them juveniles, after a car chase on Friday night.
A Gates police officer spotted a stolen car on Buell Road about 11:00 Friday night, near where an Irondequoit man was fatally shot during a carjacking on Wednesday. The officer gave chase, and during the pursuit a loaded gun was thrown from the car. Police stopped the fleeing car and found a second handgun inside.
Arrested were three 18-year-olds, two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old. Gates police say all had criminal records. One is already a predicate felon, abd one had a prior charge for armed robbery.
Gates police posted on Facebook: “What’s broken? The Criminal Justice System’s failure to correct behavior and the lack of parenting. Allowing kids to run the streets leads to potentially life long consequences for innocent victims and the unsupervised child. We need the cooperation of parents.”
