Lightning 1The Rochester area may finally get some real drought relief this week.

Since June 1st, the region has had fewer than three inches of rain…5.5 inches less than normal. The entire Rochester region is listed as in severe drought, but the National Weather Service regional office in Buffalo says that could be about to change.

A low pressure system moving across the Great Lakes region tomorrow will pull another surge of moist air from the Gulf of Mexico over Upstate New York. The result should be widespread showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night.

Some of those storms could be strong to severe, with damaging winds and localized flooding possible. It all depends on how the wind blows.
