State police have a person in custody after gunshots struck a building at the Hill Cumorah site in Palmyra, Ontario County.
Troopers say the person was firing for target practice and unintentionally hit the building. They told a press briefing that he had no ill intent. Nobody was injured. About 75 people were at the Hill Cumorah site at the time and were evacuated.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints said in a statement that several shots were fired at or near the Hill Cumorah Visitors Center. Gratefully, no injuries were reported.
