Rochester police say a large crowd they were attempting to disperse in the area of North Clinton Avenue and Kappel Place began running in all directions when the sound of gunfire erupted.
Police had extra details in the area because crowds tend to form there after the end of the annual Puerto Rican Festival in Rochester. Police say because of the size and “aggressive nature” of the crowd running away they were not immediately able to get to the area where the shots were heard. They did not find anyone injured, but did find evidence that shots had been fired into a house on Kappel Place.
The house on Kappel was occupied by five people, none of whom were hurt by the gunfire.
