The victim of Rochester’s 62nd homicide of the year has been identified by police as one of their own. The man was found shot in a car that had crashed into a parked car on Jefferson Avenue at Iceland Street about 2:00 Sunday morning. He was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital but died shortly after arrival.
Police have identified the victim as 50-year-old William Booker, a city resident and retired member of the Rochester Police Department. His career included nearly 10 years as a school resource officer, helping steer youth away from violence. He was driving south on Jefferson Avenue when he struck the parked car. Police say they don’t know yet if he was shot before or after the crash.
Police also reported finding a woman dead in an alley known as Pearce Street late Saturday night. They say she was “obviously…a victim of murder.” She has not yet been identyified.
Both cases remain under investigation.
