A Rochester police officer was witness to a shooting late Thursday night as he watched a car pull up alongside another car on Thurston Road, and someone in the first car suddenly opened fire.
The driver of the first car fled when the officer tried to pull the driver over. After a brief chase that ended near St. Paul Street, two people were taken into custody. Twenty-three-year-old Travis Bowman of Rochester was charged with second degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon, drug possession and driving without a license.
The victim, a 23-year-old city man, was shot in the leg and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police don’t know what led up to the shooting.
