Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty has identified the man found dead at a home on Fowlerville Road in York as 22-year-old Marcus Postel of Rochester.

The sheriff said in a news conference that Postel was found dead at 3410 Fowlerville Road after a 911 call from Danielle Allen, who lives at that address. He’d been stabbed and was pronounced dead at the scene. Allen was found injured and taken to the hospital. She has not been charged with anything, but Sheriff Dougherty says the case is being handled as a homicide for now.

Investigators from Livingston County, the Monroe Medical Examiner’s Office and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and others spent until well after dark Tuesday collecting evidence at the scene.

Dougherty says Danielle Allen had lived at the address for fewer than 30 days and there had been no trouble calls from the house in that time. He says she and Postel had been in a romantic relationship. Postel had no violence in his background.

He says a slow and methodical process of gathering and assessing evidence is underway and he’s not commenting on what it shows so far. He says he’s neither ruling out charges against Allen or ruling them in.
