Gasoline prices took a second sharp jump over the last week, with the national average price for a gallon of unleaded regular hitting $2.41 a gallon and the statewide average now $2.52. It was 25 cents less a year ago.
The AAA of Rochester says regional prices are also up. Rochester’s average is now $2.46, up five cents a gallon. Buffalo is up three cents at $2.48 and Syracuse up a nickel at $2.45.
The Auto Club says national prices have been increasing daily as the more expensive summer-blend gas replaces winter blend and spring break travelers hit the road, pushing up demand for gas again. Crude oil prices are also getting more volatile.
