Tomorrow was supposed to be the final day of operations for Sentry Safe in Rochester….but the company’s new owners told the night shift not to report, gave the workers lunch and two days’ pay plus their severance, and sent them home today.
Master Lock is closing the factory and moving the 350 jobs to Mexico. The Brush family founded Sentry in Rochester some 90 years ago until selling it to Master Lock.
Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce CEO Bob Duffy says it’s a tough day for the entire region and a sad reflection on the economic situation. Duffy says the Rochester Chamber has been working with Sentry and Master Lock to find new jobs for the affected workers and continue to do so.
