Rochester, NY — Greater Rochester Enterprise — an economic development organization focused on promoting the Greater Rochester, NY region as a competitive place for business location and growth — is projecting the 2019 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club will have a $44.5 million economic impact on the region when the event takes place from May 21-26.
“There’s a reason the Greater Rochester, NY region is the chosen market to host some of golf’s most prestigious sporting events like the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship,” said Matt Hurlbutt, president and CEO of Greater Rochester Enterprise. “The KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship will shine a spotlight on all of the businesses and entrepreneurs in Rochester that make our region the top place for talent, collaboration and economic success. The economic impact study published by GRE also predicts more than 350 jobs in service and tourism will be created to support the Championship. According to GRE, the industries slated to receive the biggest boost from the Championship are hotels and motels, commercial sports, restaurants and bars, transportation, maintenance and repair construction firms, real estate firms and retailers.

In addition to the 80th KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, Oak Hill has been host to the Ryder Cup, the U.S. Open Championship, the U.S. Amateur Championship, the U.S. Senior Open Championship, and the PGA Championship . In 2023, Oak Hill Country Club will be host to the PGA Championship for a record-tying fourth time.
