Monroe County Executive Adam Bello says the Seneca Park Zoo is opening June 26th for zoo members, and on June 28th for the general public under Phase 4 of reopening.
Bello says there will be new policies and procedures to make sure guests, employees and the animals are safe from the coronavirus.
For the first time, timed entry tickets will be issued for admission. Visitors will make a reservation and tickets will be stamped with their entry and exit times. Visitors will follow a one-way route through the zoo to help maintain social distancing, and some buildings will be closed. The zoo is also following CDC cleaning and sanitizing regulations between visits.
All guests over the age of two will be required to wear masks while in the zoo, as will staff and volunteers. Animals including lions, snow leopards, red pandas and others have been proven susceptible to COVID-19. The masks are meant to keep them safe.
The online ticketing system will be live at 1 p.m. today, June 24, for guests and members to start planning their trips to the Zoo
