Opponents of an underground propane gas storage facility in Seneca County have sent a letter signed to 468 Seneca Lake property owners to Governor Cuomo, opposing the development.
The Seneca Lake Property Owners say they oppose Crestwood Energy’s plans to store the liquefied gas in abandoned salt mine caverns running partially beneath the lake. The Texas-based company scaled back its plans over the summer, but local residents including the CEO of Corning Glass continue to oppose it.
They say turning the Finger Lakes into a hub for gas storage and transport can’t help but damage the lake and tourism that depends on a clean environment.
