Seneca County officials have announced that the Seneca Iron Works is the winning bidder on the old Seneca Army Depot property. There were 16 bids for the 7,000 acres of land where the military once stored munitions and missile warheads. It’s been for sale since the end of last year.

Owner Earl Warren hopes to expand Seneca Iron Works and eventually add 200 jobs over the next decade. He also plans to offer the site to other businesses. The metalworking company makes agricultural equipment, snow pushers and metal rollup doors.

Warren’s plan calls for preserving the rare white deer that live on the Depot property.
