New York Senator Charles Schumer is urging the Trump Administration not to roll back Obama-era fuel economy standards with gasoline prices at their highest levels in four years.

The Senate Minority Leader says the EPA is planning to roll back the standard that requires auto makers to nearly double the average fuel efficiency of their vehicles to more than 50 miles per gallon.  Schumer says if the EPA follows through, we’ll feel the effects directly at the gas pump.

Coincidentally, the AAA says drivers will spend $69 more per month to fill up this summer compared to last summer. The New York State average is expected to stay above $3.00 per gallon for the summer.
