United States Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer says postal service in Rochester and the Finger Lakes will take a serious hit if the Congress and the Trump Administration come to an agreement over a new COVID-19 stimulus bill.

Those negotiations are on pause because the House and Senate have recessed until at least Labor Day. After a meeting with the new Postmaster General, Senator Schumer says Rochester.s 2,200 postal jobs and two mail processing centers are at stake. Rochester has two of the three processing centers in the Western New York region; the third is in Buffalo. Schumer says without the stimulus funding mail service will be slowed. The postal service recently began removing equipment from its processing centers and eliminated extra mail transportation trips.
