Western New York State Senator Michael Ranzenhofer has started a petition urging Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature to legalize ridesharing services like Uber across Upstate New York.
Ranzenhofer’s district extends from the southwest of Rochester to the east side of Buffalo. He’s urging people to get on his website and sign the petition.
Ridesharing has the support of Governor Cuomo and a majority of upstate government officials, but it has twice failed to pass the State Legislature.
The taxi industry strongly opposes it unless drivers have to meet the same standards theirs do, including fingerprinting and background checks.
