A second Rochester teenager has been arrested for deliberately setting a man on fire last week. This time, the young male is 14 years old.
The 14-year-old and a 16-year-old are charged with spraying a flammable liquid over the victim while he sat in a chair in his apartment on Lyell Avenue, then setting him on fire. The victim suffered second and third degree burns over 70 percent of his body and is in the URMC Burn Trauma Unit.
Police charged the 14-year-old with first-degree arson and second-degree arson. The 16-year-old was previously charged with first degree assault and second-degree attempted arson.
Because of their ages, neither teen’s name has been released. Both are being held by the Office of Children and Family Services. Investigators say the 14-year-old has no local family and they are trying to contact relatives out of state.
