Rochester police have made a second arrest in the murder of a 16-year-old on Hague Street.
Miguel Rivera was shot and killed about 7:00 pm on Saturday evening. A 30-year-old was also shot but is expected to survive.
The second person charged is 31-year-old Johnny Rodriguez of Chili. He and 31-year-old Douglas Smith of Rochester traded gunfire after an argument over riding dirt bikes on Hague Street escalated. Police say one of the dirt bikes nearly hit a child.
Instead of hitting each other, Smith and Rodriguez hit and killed the 16-year-old. Both are now charged with second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Smith has already been arraigned in City Court where he pleaded not guilty. He’s being held without bail because of his past record which includes firing shots into a relative’s house following a dispute and driving without a license. Those charges against him are still pending.
Rodriguez will be arraigned on Tuesday morning.
