After 12 days, Wayne Co. deputies have called off their search for a missing 14-month-old child at a farm off Joy Road in Sodus.

Sheriff Barry Virts said it was a difficult decision, but he’s now convinced there are no more leads to be followed up on the farm. More than 1,100 people helped search over those 12 days for some sign of Owen Hidalgo-Calderon on the farm. His mother’s body was found hidden in some woods on that farm on May 23rd.

Selena Hidalgo-Calderon’s boyfriend, Alberto Reyes, is charged with evidence tampering for moving her body from the home they shared and hiding it in the woods. He’s also been charged with federal immigration violations.

Sheriff Virts says the investigation into Owen Hidalgo-Calderon’s disappearance will continue, even though the immediate search has been called off.
