The Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars played an old-fashion slugfest on Sunday in Week 12.
The Bills (4-7) took the 24-21 win over the Jags (3-8), and at one point during it, an actual slugfest broke out.
During the third quarter, wide receiver Donte Moncrief was tackled by Bills’ defensive back Levi Wallace. Madness then ensured. Jacksonville running back Leonard Fourette tossed a punch at Buffalo defensive end Shaq Lawson. Matt Milano and Jerry Hughes were among players who jumped in to Lawson’s aid.
Some might expect a head coach to hate that sort of play and penalties from his team. Not Sean McDermott.
The Bills coach said there’s no room for fighting in the game, but did admit he loved the way his team responded and how the fans got into it as well.
“I thought it was great. I thought it was great the way our crowd reacted and the way our team reacted. We’re at home… someone’s going to step up and do that, I expect somebody to step up and play as a team. I thought we did that. Our defense stepped up and they started with the ball inside the one and ended up trying to kick a field goal from where ever it was and they missed. I thought it gave us a spark,” McDermott said.
“I loved it, I loved the crowd getting into it. That’s Buffalo, man. That’s what we’re all about here,” the coach added.
