AG Erich Schneiderman-Nicotine NewserA non-profit pet adoption center has been ordered to turn over all its assets to the Humane Society of Rochester and Monroe County and Lollypop Farm.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says the State Supreme Court order covers more than $28,000 in donations to Scottsville Veterinary Adoptions before it was shut down in May. The Attorney General ordered the non-profit company shut down for violating New York’s “Pet Lemon Law,” knowingly adopting out dogs and cats that were sick and dying.
Schneiderman says Scottsville Veterinary was hiding behind its tax-exempt status to skirt State Ag and Markets animal health laws that apply to commercial breeders and pet stores.
