Rochester’s WROC News 8 has announced the departure of Chief Meteorologist Scott Hetsko. A news release from the station says Hetsko is leaving to pursue a new opportunity.
Hetsko has been with News 8 for 17 years and is know for an exuberant delivery and a spontaneous on-air style. He took an extended leave of absence last year when heart disease left him in need of a transplant. It was a success last September and he returned to work on Super Bowl Sunday.
Hetsko is quoted as saying that experience was life changing for him and he felt it was time to try something new. He says it was a tough decision but he needs to shake things up.
Fairport native Stacey Pensgen will move up to Chief Meteorologist beginning August 10th.
