United States Senator Chuck Schumer wants the Veterans Administration to expand benefits for Vietnam Veterans exposed to Agent Orange.

The VA proposes adding four new diseases linked to Agent Orange to its benefits lists, but those additions have not been finalized by the Office of Management and Budget. The New York Democrat says this is causing veterans to suffer from a lack of coverage.

A 2016 report said several conditions including bladder cancer and hypothyroidism could be linked to Agent Orange exposure.

The VA accepts that if a veteran served in the Vietnam Theater between January, 1962 and May, 1975 they were probably exposed to Agent Orange, a powerful herbicide.
