United States Senator Chuck Schumer has made what he calls his “final push” on behalf of the Rochester Institute of Technology as the site for a new Department of Energy research center.
The DOE is establishing a Clean Energy Manufacturing Innovation Institute to push ways of cutting energy costs in manufacturing, reducing waste and replace old technologies with more efficient, cleaner ones.
It would mean a $70 million investment over five years, to be matched locally.
