The Rochester City School District has submitted a revised 2022-2023 school year budget to the City School Board and the State Monitor, after their first effort was rejected.
The $836.3 million budget reduces overall spending slightly, by half a percent. It is balanced by $10 million in appropriated fund balance to close the budget gap. Add in Special Aid and School Food Service which are figured separately, and you get $981 million for the total spending package.
Goals for use of this money are:
1. Increasing ELA and math proficiency in grades 3 -8
2. Addressing chronic absenteeism
3. Updating Districtwide comprehensive programs, materials, textbooks, and assessment tools
4. Multi-Tiered System of Supports Initiative
5. Upgrading the District’s Financial Management System
6. Upgrading the District’s Special Education Management System
Public hearings and a final vote by the Rochester City Council will come later this spring
