Rochester’s School 29 held off on reopening Monday morning after a decision by City School Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small. She said the change was out of an abundance of caution for the school staff. The school will now return to partial in-class learning on Thursday.
School 29 shifted to all remote learning last week after learning of eight positive COVID-19 cases among staff, and the death of a school custodian that a union said was COVID-related.
A statement on Twitter said the Monroe County Department of Health had completed contact tracing all those involved and found no increased risk to students or staff.
Members of the school community who want to be COVID tested can get it at the Wilson Foundation Academy on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
