New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says he’s filing suit against the Trump Administration over the president’s cancellation of DACA, the Obama Administration program that protected the so-called “Dreamers” from deportation.

Those are illegal immigrants who were brought to this country as young children, often just several months old. The previous administration granted them deferred status which allowed them to legally hold jobs and stay in this country. President Trump says the program will shut down in six months, giving Congress time to pass a law allowing the “Dreamers” to stay if it wants.

Schneiderman says the Dreamers are a valuable part of New York State who work and pay their taxes. He says he’s suing to protect them and the values of New York State.
