AG Erich Schneiderman-Nicotine NewserNew York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says a statewide inquiry into voter complaints from the April presidential primary shows how New York’s election laws put up barriers to voter access.

Schneiderman says there are two major problems: the law, rules and procedures kept many New Yorkers from participating in the primary; and the state’s voting regulations restrict voter access to the ballot.

The attorney general says his office got a record number of complaints during the April primary, ten times more than any previous election. He says they talked with eight boards of election statewide, including Monroe County’s, in coming up with their report.
