New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says State Attorney Generals have taken over the role of Congress as a check on the excesses of the Trump Administration.

Schneiderman spoke at a conference of attorneys general at the NYU law school’s Energy and Environment Impact Center. He says states will enforce federal environmental and other laws when U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions doesn’t, including the provisions of the Clean Air and Clean Water acts..

Schneiderman says the coalition of progressive attorneys general came together in January when the original Trump Travel Ban was put in place, and he says they’re actively reviewing the new travel restrictions issued yesterday. He says climate deniers and lobbyists for the energy industry are now in charge of the administration, and the nation  will suffer greatly
