Red Wings win 3rd straight over Syracuse
The Rochester Red Wings erupted for 22 hits in crushing the Syracuse Chiefs, 11-0, on Saturday night in the Salt City.
James Beresford led the way by going 5-for-6. Jorge Polanco, Daniel Palka, and Byung Ho Park each collected 3 hits as the entire lineup has at least one hit apiece. Darin Mastroianni and Wilfredo Tovar notched 2 hits apiece.
Polanco and Palka each drove in 3 runs and Park slugged a home run.
The Red Wings won the game with a 4-run first inning. They added 2 in the second, 1 in the 7th, and 4 in the 9th.
Rochester (60-42) concludes its series against the Chiefs on Sunday afternoon. The Red Wings remain in third place, a half game behind the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and 3.5 games behind International League North Division leader Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees.

Rattlers cameback falls short in overtime
The Rochester Rattlers overcame a 7-goal third quarter deficit, but fell 16-15 to the New York Lizards in overtime on Saturday evening at nearly full house at the Wegmans Sports Complex at Aquinas Institute. It was the largest crowd to see a Rattlers game in over 3 years.
The Chesapeake Bayhawks (8-4) lead the league with the as Charlotte Hounds and New York Lizards are tied for second place with 7-4 records. The Ohio Machine is in fourth with a 7-5 mark, while the Rattlers are 6-5, with 3 games remaining in the regular season.
The battle for the four playoff positions will go down to the wire this season. The Rattlers gained the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) playoffs the last two seasons, and played in the championship game both times.
Trailing 13-6 midway through the third quarter ona 2-point Lizards goals, the Rattlers outscored New York, 9-1, to take a 15-14 lead with 3:01 left in the fourth quarter.
However, the Lizards evened the count once again to force overtime.
A Rochester turnover in the extra period gave the Lizards the ball, and they converted on the opportunity to score the game-winning goal.
Jesse King paced the Rattlers with 5 points on 4 goals and 1 assist. Jeremy Boltus also netted 4 goals as John Ranagan collected 2 goals and 1 assist. Ned Crotty added 1 goal and 3 assists as Dhane Smith made his Rattlers debut with 1 goal and 1 assist.
Kip Orban, Drew Simoneau, and Donny Moss each had 1 goal. Penfield native Kyle Denhoff added 3 assists and Joel White had 1 assist.
Rochester goalie John Galloway made 16 saves. New York goalie Drew Adams was spectacular with 21 saves as he thwarted the Rattlers time and time again.
