Buffalo suspended Zach Bogosian without pay for failing to report to the Amerks.

The Buffalo Sabres announced this evening that they’ve suspended defenseman Zach Bogosian without pay for failing to report to the Rochester Americans of the AHL. Here is the statement from the Sabres:
“The Buffalo Sabres have suspended defenseman Zach Bogosian due to failure to report to the Rochester Americans.
“There will be no further information or comment at this time.”
John Vogt tweeted:
The Sabres have suspended Zach Bogosian for failure to report to Rochester. The team has no further comment. He comes off the payroll. The Sabres can continue to work on a trade. They can mutually negotiate a termination. Or they can just let him sit out.
Bogosian’s agent Darren Ferris also released a statement to various reporters after the suspension was announced:
“We are aware of the notice of suspension and will not be providing a comment at this time.”
While Bogosian is suspended his pro-rated cap hit comes off the books while he’s out. The two sides can move towards a contract termination and still look for a trade with the trade deadline a week away. The Sabres can also decide to leave him suspended for the remainder of the season if they would like.

Sabres suspending Bogosian for failing to report results in the balance of his projected cap hit coming off Buffalo’s cap for the duration of his suspension.
Failure to report is also a breach of contract, meaning that Buffalo could possibly terminate the remainder of his deal.
We’ll see where this takes us in the next few days.
In an unrelated move, the Sabres recalled forward Scott Wilson to join the team for their trip to Ottawa. Michael Frolik won’t make the trip due to illness and Johan Larsson missed practiced today for a maintenance day.
Also, goaltender Andrew Hammond was returned to the Amerks.
