The Buffalo Sabres reportedly made their first big splash of the offseason early Thursday evening.

Collin Miller, a 26 year-old defenseman, has spent the last 2 seasons playing for the Vegas Golden Knights.

In 250 NHL games between the Golden Knights and the Boston Bruins, Miller has accumulated 99 career points (22 goals, 77 assists).

Miller found himself on the trading block in Vegas due to their less-than-desirable salary cap situation. Miller’s team-friendly contract, which has 3 years remaining at a cap hit of $3,875,000 per season, also made him a very hot commodity through multiple hockey communities.

In acquiring Miller, the Buffalo Sabres have 4 right-handed defensemen on their roster (Miller, Brandon Montour, Rasmus Ristolainen and Zach Bogosian) – certainly something to keep an eye on as the offseason continues.
