For the second straight game, Buffalo comes from behind to notch a 3-2 overtime victory.

MONTREAL — Zach Bogosian could not find a better time to score his first goal of the season for Buffalo as the Sabres defenseman beat Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price with a shot in overtime to lift the Sabres to a 3-2 victory on Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre.

Price and Buffalo netminder Robin Lehner each played an outstanding game in a battle of goalies.

Greece native Brian Gionta tied the game, 1-1, with his 10th goal of the season for Buffalo, and just 64 seconds after the Canadiens had taken the lead in the second period.

However, 4 minutes later the Habs regained the lead.

Buffalo defenseman Cody Franson knotted the count once again midway through the third period.

Price came up with 2 incredible saves against Matt Moulson and Rasmus Ristolainen in the final seconds of regulation to send the game into overtime.

Not to be outdone, Sabres goalie Robin Lehner made a lunging glove save, his 38th of the contest, in overtime to keep the game going. Less than a minute later, Zach Bogosian scored his first goal since March 29, 2016, to win the game.

Each team fired 38 shots on goal as Lehner finished with 36 saves as Price had 35.

The win moved Buffalo above .500 at 19-18-9 for 47 points and into 6th place in the Atlantic Division, 2 points behind the Florida with 2 games in hand on the Panthers.

The Sabres rallied at home on Friday night to beat the Detroit Red Wings, 3-2, in overtime. Buffalo’s next game is Tuesday in Nashville against the Preditors.

The Sabres recalled defenseman Casey Nelson from the Rochester Americans on Saturday, to fill in for Jake McCabe, who was injured in the game Friday against the Detroit Red Wings. In a corresponding move, the Amerks re-assigned goaltender Jason Kasdorf to the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

Nelson (24, 6-foot-1, 190 lbs.) has nine points (4+5) in 27 games for the Amerks this season, including 3 points (2+1) in his last 5 games. In 15 career games for the Sabres during the last two seasons, the Wisconsin Rapids, WI., native has 4 assists and 10 penalty minutes.
