Zemgus Girgensons scored for Buffalo in the first period, with assists going to Casey Nelson and Justin Bailey, but a power play goal with 5 seconds left in regulation propelled the Wild to the 2-1 preseason victory.
Linus Ullmark was in net for the third period for Buffalo and yielded the Wild goal. Anders Nilsson played the first two periods in goal for the Sabres as he made 26 saves and gave up one goal in the second stanza that knotted the game at 1-1.
Buffalo outshot Minnesota, 40-31, led by 7 shots from Evander Kane.
The Sabres returned forwards Vasily Glotov, Brandon Hagel and Cliff Pu, as well as defensemen Vojtech Budik, Austin Osmanski, and Devante Stephens, to their respective junior clubs.
The Sabres now have 50 players (29 forwards, 16 defensemen and 5 goaltenders) on their training camp roster.
