Buffalo comes back from a 2-0 deficit to gain a point.

SUNRISE, FL. — The Buffalo Sabres dropped another heartbreaker in a shootout on Tuesday night in South Florida, 4-3, to the Florida Panthers. However, the team did earn a point in its fourth straight game.

Trailing 2-0 in the second period, Rasmus Ristolainen ripped a shot from the left point for a power play goal. Ryan O’Reilly and Jack Eichel assisted on the play.

Less than a minute later, Evander Kane scored to knot the count at 2-2, off an assist from Greece native and team captain Brian Gionta.

Midway through the third period, Ristolainen put the Sabres ahead, 3-2, off an assist from Sam Reinhart.

However, Jaromir Jagr tied Mark Messier for second place overall in points in the NHL with his 8,877th point on a assist on the tying goal that sent the game into overtime.

Eichel paced the Sabres (12-11-8) with 6 shots on goal as netminder Robin Lehner made 36 saves.

The Sabres are home Thursday to the Carolina Hurricanes at 7 pm at KeyBank Center, then they go on their Christmas break.
