BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sabres were unable to overcome a slow start as they dropped a 3-1 contest to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night at the KeyBank Center.
Trailing 2-0 in the third period, Johan Larsson got the Sabres on the scoreboard with his 6th goal of the season, off assists from Sam Reinhart and Buffalo native Marcus Foligno.
However, the Hurricanes locked the game away with an empty net tally.
Buffalo goalie Robin Lehner made 31 saves.
Jack Eichel (7) and Evander Kane (6) combined for 13 of the Sabres 23 shots on goal.
The loss snapped the Sabres’streak of 4 consecutive games of achieving 1 point. Entering the contest, Buffalo earned at least one point in 11 of the Sabres last 14 games.
