The Oilers hang 7 on Buffalo in a blow out win.

Well things started out well for the Sabres Monday night. They scored the first goal of the game on a weak goal by Mikko Koskinen. Conor Sheary scored his eighth of the season on a shot from the wall.

Then about a minute later it started to go all downhill.

The bad luck for Carter Hutton continued from the Hurricanes game. Zach Bogosian deflected a Zack Kassian shot by Hutton for the Oilers first goal of the game.

Less than a minute later a harmless point shot went off the pants of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and in to make it 2-1.

Less than a minute after that, Marco Scandella and Nathan Beaulieu combine for some elite coverage (insert sarcasm font) to leave Kassian alone in front for his second goal of the game to make it 3-1.

Evan Rodrigues got the Sabres back in it briefly by making it 3-2 with a nice shot.

That’s how things would stay after 20 minutes.

On the opening shift of the second the Oilers delivered the kill shot. Rasmus Ristolainen whiffed on a point shot and gave Connor McDavid a clear breakaway from the other blue line in. Of course he scored to make it 4-2.

Few minutes later Scandella made another appearance. Beautiful pass to Milan Lucic in the slot and he beat Hutton to make it 5-2.

That would be the end of Hutton’s night (mercifully).

The goals continued to come in the third for the Oilers with Linus Ullmark in the net. Lucic scored his second of the game and Draisaitl had a tap in to complete the touchdown.
