Buffalo native Patrick Kane nets the game-winner for Chicago.
CHICAGO, IL. — Buffalo native Patrick Kane scored on a rebound in overtime to beat his hometown Sabres, 4-3, on Thursday night for the Chicago Blackhawks. He also had 2 assists in the game.
Despite being outshot 13-3 midway through the first period, the Sabres grabbed a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Marcus Foligno.
However, the Hawks kept up the pressure and knotted the score late in the stanza.
Kyle Okposo scored unassisted on a power play to put the Sabres back in front, but that lasted only 18 seconds before the Blackhawks tied the game once again, 2-2.
For the third time in the game, the Sabres pulled ahead early in the third period on a power play goal by Jack Eichel. Ryan O’Reilly and Okposo assisted on the play.
Chicago tallied the equalizer with 2 minutes left in regulation to force overtime, 3-3.
Andres Nilsson made his second straight start in goal for Buffalo as he made 39 saves.
The Sabres return to the KeyBank Center on Saturday at 1 pm against the Winnipeg Jets.
