BUFFALO, N.Y. — After two very disappointing seasons at Penn State, Sabres’ 2016 fourth round pick Brett Murray has left Happy Valley.
The Daily Collegian reports that Murray is not transferring to another school, but instead will play junior hockey.
In two seasons with Penn State, Murray only could get into the lineup 33 times, scoring one goal and six assists for seven points.
Sabres’ 2013 second round pick Connor Hurley transferred from Notre Dame to Minnesota last September. Hurley had to sit out the season due to eligibility requirements, but he is not on the Gophers roster for this season. Kris Baker has confirmed he is not part of the program at this time.
In three seasons with the Irish, Hurley played 98 games, scoring 14 goals and 34 assists for 48 points.
Hurley and 2014 second round pick Vaclav Karabacek were not invited to the Sabres’ Development Camp in June. GM Jason Botterill said it was time to give others a chance.
Sabres’ 2014 fifth round pick Max Willman finished his four seasons at Brown. The Providence Journal reports that Willman will play at Boston University this season as a grad transfer.
In 99 games with Brown, the winger scored 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 points. Willman only played nine games last season due to injury.
