Buffalo wins its second straight game with a 4-2 triumph over the Flames.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sabres won their second straight game with a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday night at the KeyBank Arena.
Trailing 1-0 midway through the second period, the Sabres (7-8-4) scored 3 power play goals in 1:41 seconds to take the lead. Kyle Okposo scored the first to tie the contest off a pass across the slot by Sam Reinhart. Johan Larsson redirected a shot by Evander Kane to pull ahead. Matt Moulson converted a pass from Okposo for the 3-1 advantage.
The Flames struck in the first minute of the third period, but Marcus Foligno got it back about 2 minutes later off an assist from Reinhart.
Buffalo goalie Robin Lehner made 29 saves in gaining the victory.
Defenseman Taylor Fedun picked up 2 assists for the Sabres.
Ryan O’Reilly was back on the ice with the Sabres this morning after missing five of the last six games with an oblique injury. Making his return to the lineup, however, will require a bit more patience. O’Reilly did not participate in line work or power-play drills and was a scratched against the Flames.
“If we’re in the playoffs it’s a different situation,” O’Reilly said following the team’s morning skate at KeyBank Center. “But there’s a lot of hockey left and it is frustrating right now, obviously we’re not where we want to be these last few games. We need to score goals, and obviously that’s one of my jobs and not being able to do it is very frustrating. But, again, we’ve got a good staff here and I’ve got to trust them and be smart with it.”
