Jason Pominville scores as Buffalo rallies to edge Montreal, 4-3.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Kyle Okposo scored a power-play goal with 1:01 left to lift the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-3 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday at KeyBank Center.

Okposo’s shot from above the right face-off circle gave the Sabres their only lead of the game.

Buffalo’s Sam Reinhart scored his first goal of the season to tie it 3-3. Defenseman Jake McCabe sent a pass to Reinhart all alone in front of Niemi at 13:07.

Jason Pominville scored two goals for the Sabres (6-4-0), and Carter Hutton made 19 saves. Jeff Skinner had 2 assists to extend his point streak to 4 games (4 goals, 3 assists).

Max Domi scored 2 goals for Montreal (5-2-2), and Antti Niemi made 38 saves.

Domi capitalized on a Sabres turnover to put the Canadiens ahead 1-0. He got to a loose puck after Artturi Lehkonen put pressure on defenseman Marco Scandella and cut into the right circle to beat Niemi at 1:17 of the first period.

Pominville tied the game 1-1 at 11:22 of the second period, putting a pass from Skinner into an open right side of the net.

After Jesperi Kotkaniemi negated an icing, Joel Armia, a former Sabre, took the loose puck for the wraparound to make it 2-1 Montreal at 16:08.

Pominville scored his second of the night came on the power play at 17:42 when he beat Niemi short side to tie it 2-2.

Domi gave the Canadiens a 3-2 lead when he skated into the high slot and beat Hutton at 6:34 of the third period. It was Montreal’s first shot on goal of the period.

Domi has 4 goals and 3 assists during a 5-game point streak.
