Mittelstadt, Rodrigues score for Buffalo in the 7-2 loss to the Oilers.

EDMONTON, AL. — Milan Lucic and Zack Kassian each scored two goals for the Edmonton Oilers in a 7-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres at Rogers Place on Monday.
Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each had a goal and an assist, and Leon Draisaitl scored for Edmonton (22-21-3), which won for the fourth time in 13 games. Mikko Koskinen made 41 saves.
Casey Mittelstadt and Evan Rodrigues scored for Buffalo (23-17-6), which has lost three straight. Carter Hutton gave up five goals on 12 shots before being pulled at 4:49 of the second period. Linus Ullmark allowed made 11 saves in relief.
Mittelstadt scored 1 minute into the first period to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead on their first shot. He tipped in a sharp-angle shot from Conor Sheary.
Kassian tied it 1-1 at 2:33 on Edmonton’s first shot, which bounced in off the stick of Sabres defenseman Zach Bogosian.
Nugent-Hopkins made it 2-1 at 3:23, deflecting in a point shot from Caleb Jones.
Kassian extended the lead to 3-1 at 4:28, converting a cross-crease pass from Tobias Rieder.
Rodrigues cut it to 3-2 at 8:57, collecting a loose puck in the slot and picking the bottom corner.
McDavid scored on a breakaway 24 seconds into the second period to make it 4-2.
Lucic pushed the lead to 5-2 at 4:49, intercepting a clearing pass from defenseman Marco Scandella in the Sabres’ zone and scoring from the high slot. Hutton was pulled following the goal.
Lucic scored again at 3:50 of the third period to make it 6-2.
Draisaitl made it 7-2 on the power play at 5:16, lifting a rebound into the net for his 99th NHL goal.
