The Regional Transit Service says it will start collecting fares again on July 15th as reopening from the coronavirus pandemic continues. RTS says it will also introduce its new RTS GO contactless pare system.
You’ll pay your dollar fare with a tap-and-go app on your cellphone or with a smart card that you can buy at the Transit Center.
RTS suspended drivers taking fares in March to avoid them having so much contact with the public. CEO Bill Carpenter says with the Rochester area now in Phase 3 of reopening, it’s time to reinstate collecting fares and implement the new plan.
