The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra is ending its 2017 season with a $200,000 Challenge fundraiser. Six orchestra donors have agreed to give two dollars for every dollar pledged through August 1st, up to $200,000.
That’s a total of $300,000 in support for the RPO.
This season under Music Director Ward Stare the orchestra has seen a resurgence, with a 20 percent increase in ticket sales and six sold-out concerts. There were more than 5,200 first-time concert goers.
Ticket sales cover about 40 percent of the budget, and the non-profit orchestra fundraises for the rest.
