Rochester Police Chief Michael Ciminelli says his officers seized more than 90 illegal guns in July and August, 44 of them in the Northeast Rochester Clinton Section alone.
Chief Ciminelli says of the 92 guns police took off the streets, 30 were because of proactive police work and traffic stops by Rochester officers. The chief says he commends the officers who put themselves at risk every day to reduce gun violence in this city.
Mayor Lovely Warren said in a statement that this is why she’s pushed the police department back to a community-based patrol section model.
